Why You Want Chesterton for Your Student

Updated: Oct 8

In the past few years, I have had the privilege of visiting three of the Chesterton Academies, and spending three full days at two of the campuses. I can attest to the joyfully Catholic atmosphere and the sense of peace and well-being students at these schools enjoy. If you're one of my generation, or even one of the more recent two generations, you've probably seen and experienced schools that exude the opposite. In fact, so many of the schools in our country feel more like institutions of crushing containment, where students experience a great deal of stress and pressure, and very little joy. But if learning is at the heart of an institution, learning about the world and your place in it should be a practice that expands your horizons, and accompanies academic achievement with humility and joy.

At Chesterton academies students are educated using a classical model which meets the high level of academic distinction the most prestigious of preparatory high schools boast, but more than that, it provides the groundwork for a living, thriving spiritual and community life for each student that passes through its doors. The Mass is at the center each day, and it is this, and the wonder evinced by G.K. Chesterton, that integrates person and student, and both with a wider world.
