Our Blessed Mother is known by many titles and the Chesterton Academies around the country either choose their location name (i.e. Chesterton Academy of Willamette Valley) or different saints as patrons.
So why Stella Maris for the Chesterton Academy of Orange County? Stella Maris is Latin for Star of the Sea. We were inspired by the fact that Orange County lies on the edge of the largest body of water in the world, the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The ocean represents many
things. It's a place of mystery, chaos, darkness, and power. Our Lady, as the Star of the Sea, is there to guide us through the often troubled waters of our lives and bring us to the safe
harbor of her Son. The goal of a Chesterton Academy education is for students to be saints and to flourish in this life. On their way, they need to be guided, and Our Lady has done that very well for so many.
We enjoy her patronage as Stella Maris, Star of the Sea, and pray that our students and families will find in her a sure guide and a bright star leading them to the joy of faith in her Son.
Has Our Lady guided you in some particular way this past year? Or for many years? Has she been part of your classical education?
